LGIA Removes Tires From the Bottom of Lake Gogebic

On September 23rd, members of the Lake Gogebic Improvement Association met at the Ontonagon County Park to remove discarded tires and miscellaneous trash from the bottom of Lake Gogebic. A few were also removed along the Hoop ‘N Holler Road. Steve Salmi, Jim Vigness, Chris Wirtanen and Dusty Barclay loaded approximately 30 tires onto a trailer. John Wilmes, the park caretaker, offered the use of his trailer and consequently hauled them to the designated disposal site. The Ontonagon County Road Commission is paying for the disposal. This is an example of how cooperation between two entities results in a cleaner lake for both property owners and users alike.
